Parish Council

Parish Councils form the first tier of government, the one that is closest to the people.

Members are elected every 4 years and any vacancies that occur during that time are filled by election or co-option.  There are 7 members on the North Waltham Parish Council, all volunteers, plus a Clerk who provides the official link with the other levels of government and has responsibilities such as communications with outside parties, minute-taking, managing the files, etc.

The Parish Council is non-political and has the sole aim of improving life in the parish for its residents, so gets involved in such things as planning, highways, traffic, rights of way, seats and shelters; in fact anything that affects, or might affect, life in the village.  That is why it is so important that you let us know your concerns, comments and suggestions.

The Council meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 20.00 in the Rathbone Pavilion and you are welcome to attend these meetings.  The minutes of each meeting are posted on the notice board near the bus shelter and appear on the Agendas and Minutes page of this site.  If you have any items to raise, we suggest you discuss them with the Clerk or a councillor first rather than waiting for the next meeting.
